Korea unveils new lists of victims of colonial Japan 일제 강점기 피해자 명부 공개

The list of Korean victims were produced through nationwide surveys in 1953 under the direction of then President Syngman Rhee. They were made as Seoul was preparing for bilateral talks with Tokyo that year.　One of the books lists 630 victims killed during the independence movement， while another lists 290 Koreans killed during the Great Kanto Earthquake. The rest have names of 229，781 Koreans forced to work under colonial rule.

이 명부는 1953년 이승만 전 대통령의 지시로 전국적 조사로 작성됐다. 그 해 한일 회담을 준비하는 과정에 작성됐다고 관계자들은 말했다. 한 권에는 3.1 운동 피살된 630명， 또 다른 한 권에는 관동 대지진 때 피살된 290명이 실려있다. 나머지에는 강제징용자 22만9781명의 한국인 이름이 실려있다.
