Kowloon Walled City, from Meatspace to Online Dreams (Content Minded Ep. 64).
On this special edition of Content Minded, I cover the history, legacy,
theories, politics and imaginations around what was known as Kowloon
Walled city, or the "city of darkness" in the middle of Hong Kong until
it's demolition in the early 90s. I discuss it's significance in the
realm of political ideas, the concept of the living "megastructure",
it's aesthetic influence, the role of art as a form of anthropology, and
more importantly Kowloon as a model of internet space and digital
communities.
