    Leaks, Rates, and Real Talk with the Mayor is today's topic with Fred McMurray and Kassie Dee, Mayor of Grover Beach, California as they discuss the city's wastewater issues and the need for a rate increase due to aging sewer lines.
    The city's 60-year-old pipes, which originally served 3,600 people, now serve nearly 13,000. A $15 million capital improvement project is proposed over the next few years. The city council is considering a 17.8% annual increase over five years, equating to a $4.56 bi-monthly increase for the average household.
    Public forums and engagement opportunities are planned in accordance with Prop 218, including a public hearing on June 9. Low-income residents may qualify for assistance programs.
