Every energy must have an opposite, and even a figure as pervasive and hopeful as Santa Claus is no exception.
Unlike the charming, rosy-cheeked man in a flying sleigh, Krampus doesn’t exist to deliver gifts—he’s here to deliver retribution. At least, according to common legend.
But there’s a deeper story here. Like most mythical beings, Krampus is a coalescence of thousands of years of stories, cultures, and reimaginings.
This week, Shannon and I explore the ways in which Krampus meets the popular legends, ways in which he doesn’t, and discuss how to safely call upon him in a time of need.
