Gilad talks with Kristen Rasmussen and Alicia “Chelle” Thompson about life after basketball, patience, vulnerability, purpose, spirituality, connectedness, and loving yourself.
Kristen Rasmussen was born in Lansing, Michigan, the youngest of 5 children. Her parents, both educators, built their family on love, laughter, music, sports and the gospel. Kristen attended and played basketball for Michigan State University, obtaining a degree in Kinesiology. Upon graduation, Kristen was drafted into the WNBA, where she competed for 10 years. In addition, she played 13 seasons overseas in Switzerland, France, Spain, Greece, Romania and Australia. Retiring from professional athletics, Kristen went into collegiate and high school coaching. In 2019, Kristen jumped into the corporate world and is currently working for NIKE. Kristen enjoys singing and sings in a church choir. Kirsten is exploring the world of genderless retail - not letting retail decide what you should wear to feel comfortable or express yourself, based on your gender.
Chelle Thompson is a footwear tech developer for NIKE. She is a 2004 WNBA Champion, two-time Hall of Famer, Kodak All-American, Big 12 Player of the Year, and is ranked 2nd on Texas Tech's all-time scoring and rebounding list. She won a silver medal representing team USA's Jones Cup team in 1997 and is a 4-time State shot put champion and record holder. She is a passionate, resilient, and driven champion who loves to inspire and coach others through her purpose drivers, which are leadership, laughter and life's purpose. Chelle is a motivational speaker who enjoys individual and team building to help others reach their fullest potential. She started a program called Pregame Pep Talk to elevate individuals and teams. She loves to read, cook, and ride motorcycles for fun, and spends a lot of her time on self-improvement, self-discovery and growth!
