Kristie Looney chats with Julia about the formation of Property Initiatives Real Estate which is a social enterprise of Women's Property Initiatives. Property Initiatives Real Estate is a first of its kind in Australia – a social enterprise real estate agency that operates as a profit-making enterprise, covering both property management & property sales. All  profits are to be channeled into Women's Property Initiatives, a not-for-profit whose social purpose is to build a secure future for women and children in need by developing and providing good quality, long term, affordable housing. Kristie offers insights on starting a social enterprise, why a not-for-profit would want to start its own social enterprise, the challenges faced in creating Property Initiatives Real Estate, and the usefulness of accelerator programs for social enterprise (such as the Crunch run by Social Traders in Australia) and much more.
