This week, we look at another originator that helped pave the way for hip-hop, reviewing his debut album Kurtis Blow from rapper Kurtis Blow. Not only was Kurtis the first rapper signed to a major label, he was also the first to have a rap song go gold with his song "The Breaks" as well as doing this as a solo artist. His charismatic voice over funky disco beats made him one of the premiere break out hip-hop stars of his era.
