Poetry is often considered impermissible by the Islamic jurisprudence. However, Sufi Master Younus AlGohar clarifies this common misconception and explains that the content of the poetry plays a huge role on whether it is permissible or not.

The Holy Qur’an was revealed upon the Prophet (pbuh) in a very poetic way, had it been impermissible, God would not have used poetry. Hassan Bin Sabit, a companion of the Prophet (pbuh) wrote poems of praise attributed to the Prophet (pbuh). Had it been impermissible, the Prophet (pbuh) would have declared it.
