At least 22 people have been killed and 13 are still missing in KwaZulu-Natal after disruptive rain hit parts of the province over the festive season. While clean-up operations are still underway, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) this week issued a weather level 4 warning for the province after flooding was reported along the coast and parts of the Eastern Cape on Monday. We are in conversation with The DA's Jacques Smalle as we unpack the Democratic Alliance (DA) calls for the Cooperative Governance Department to intervene in KwaZulu-Natal following failure to implement contingency measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
