Hey there, fellow anglers! Artificial Lure here with your Los Angeles fishing report for March 31, 2025. Let me tell you, it's looking like a prime day to hit the water!

The weather's cooperating nicely with clear skies and a high of 72°F. We've got a light onshore breeze, perfect for keeping things comfortable. Sunrise was at 6:42 AM, and we're looking at sunset around 7:15 PM, so there's plenty of daylight to work with.

Tides are looking interesting today. We've got a low tide at 5:23 AM, followed by a high at 11:45 AM, then another low at 5:57 PM. That mid-day high tide could be just what we need to bring in some nice catches.

Now, let's talk fish. The halibut bite has been on fire lately! Anglers have been pulling in some nice flatties, especially around Redondo Beach and Santa Monica Bay. I've heard reports of a few 20-pounders being landed this past week. For you halibut hunters, try working the sandy areas with live smelt or anchovy. If you're more into artificials, a 4-inch swimbait on a 3/4-ounce jighead has been doing the trick.

Calico bass action has been steady, particularly around the kelp beds off Palos Verdes. These feisty fighters have been hitting hard on plastics, with brown and green pumpkin colors being the hot ticket. Don't forget to try some surface iron early in the morning for some explosive topwater action.

For you surf anglers, the perch bite has been consistent. Carolina-rigged bloodworms or fresh mussels are your best bet. And keep an eye out for some nice corbina cruising the shore break - they've been showing up in good numbers lately.

If you're looking to tangle with something bigger, the leopard sharks have been making their presence known. Fresh mackerel or bonito chunks on a wire leader should do the trick. Just remember to use circle hooks for easy release.

As for hot spots, I'd highly recommend giving Hermosa Beach Pier a shot. The end of the pier has been producing some quality halibut and the occasional white seabass. If you're up for a bit of a drive, Malibu Pier has been red hot for rockfish and the occasional yellowtail.
