Hey there, anglers! Artificial Lure here with your Los Angeles fishing report for March 24, 2025. Let's dive right in!
The sun's peeking out at 6:48 AM today, with sunset at 7:11 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to wet our lines. Weather's looking prime - partly cloudy skies and temps hovering around 70°F. Perfect conditions to hit the water!
Tides are running medium today. We've got a high tide at 10:23 AM and a low at 4:57 PM. That incoming tide in the morning should stir up some action, so plan accordingly.
Now, let's talk fish! The halibut bite has been on fire lately. Anglers have been pulling in some decent-sized flatties, averaging 18-22 inches. Your best bet is to work the sandy areas near structure with some live bait or artificial lures that mimic their prey.
Speaking of lures, I've been hearing great things about the Lucky Craft SW Flash Minnow 110 in the super glow cherry berry color. It's been absolutely killer for halibut close to shore. If you're more of a bait guy, sand crabs are always a solid choice - just make sure to grab those soft-shell ones if you can.
Surf perch action has been steady too. Folks have been having luck with Berkeley Gulp! sand worms in the camo color. Chop 'em in half for better results in this cooler water.
For you bass heads, the calico bite has been picking up. Try working some swimbaits like the Savage Gear Glass Minnow around kelp beds and rocky areas. The herring color has been producing well.
As for hot spots, Redondo Beach Pier has been consistently good for halibut and perch. If you're looking to get away from the crowds, try Dockweiler State Beach - it's been less pressured and still producing some nice catches.
Oh, and don't sleep on the croaker action! The yellowfins have been showing up in decent numbers. Live Target's Croaker Swimbait has been a game-changer for targeting these tasty fish.
Remember to keep it legal, folks. Check those size and bag limits before you head out. And if you're looking to stock up on gear, swing by Tackle Shack USA in Sylmar. Mike and Steve will hook you up with everything you need.
That's all for now, anglers. Get out there and make some memories! This is Artificial Lure, signing off. Tight lines!
