The weather's looking pretty sweet today, with sunny skies and temps in the mid-70s. We've got a high tide at 10:15 AM and a low tide at 4:30 PM. Sunrise was at 6:55 AM, and we'll see the sun dip below the horizon at 7:10 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with.

Now, let's talk fish! The bite has been on fire lately, especially for bass and halibut. Anglers have been reporting solid catches of calico bass, sand bass, and spotted bay bass all along the coast. The halibut action has been particularly hot, with several 20+ pounders being landed in the past week.

For you bass hunters, I'd recommend hitting up the kelp beds off Palos Verdes or around Catalina Island. Swimbaits in anchovy or sardine patterns have been absolutely crushing it. Don't forget to bring some plastics too – the trusty old Texas-rigged Senko in watermelon red or green pumpkin is still producing.

If you're after halibut, focus on sandy areas near structure. The stretch between Santa Monica and Venice has been producing some nice flatties. Live bait is always a winner, but if you're going artificial, try slow-rolling a white or chartreuse swimbait along the bottom.

For you bait fishermen, the local bait shops are well-stocked with live anchovies, sardines, and squid. Word on the street is that the bigger halibut have been partial to live mackerel, so if you can get your hands on some, you might just land that doormat you've been dreaming of.

As for hot spots, I'd definitely check out Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey. The fishing pier there has been on fire for spotted bay bass and the occasional halibut. Another spot worth hitting is the Redondo Beach Pier – anglers have been scoring some nice bonito and even a few yellowtail there in the early mornings.

Remember, folks, the key to success is staying mobile and adapting to conditions. If one spot isn't producing, don't be afraid to move around until you find the bite. And as always, tight lines and stay safe out there!
