Hey there, anglers! Artificial Lure here with your Los Angeles fishing report for March 26, 2025. Let's dive right in!
The tides are looking good today, with a low tide of 1.58 ft at 1:40 AM and a high tide of 5.45 ft at 7:38 AM. We've got another low tide of -0.68 ft at 2:23 PM and a high tide of 4.63 ft at 8:44 PM. The sun's coming up at 6:48 AM and setting at 7:09 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with.
Weather-wise, it's shaping up to be a beautiful day on the water. Temps are mild and the winds are light, perfect for casting those lines.
Now, let's talk fish. The spring bite is really heating up, folks! We've been seeing some solid action on halibut lately, with a few lucky anglers landing some nice-sized flatties. The calico bass are starting to show up in better numbers too, especially around structure and kelp beds.
Just last week, a buddy of mine pulled in a 22-pound white seabass off Palos Verdes. That's a trophy catch right there! And don't forget about those hard-fighting bonito - they've been thick in some spots.
For you bottom fishing enthusiasts, the sculpin bite has been steady, and we're seeing some quality rockfish coming up from deeper water now that the season's open.
As for lures, you can't go wrong with swimbaits for the calicos and halibut. I've been having good luck with the Keitech Easy Shiners in the sardine color. For the bonito, try casting some small chrome jigs or Krocodile spoons.
If you're more of a bait fisherman, live squid has been the ticket lately. Sardines and anchovies are working well too, especially for the halibut.
Now, for some hot spots. The breakwall at Long Beach has been producing some nice halibut and calico bass. If you're looking to get into some bonito action, try around the Horseshoe Kelp area. And for those of you with boats, the artificial reefs off Huntington Beach have been holding some quality fish.
Remember, folks, the spring run of white seabass could kick off any day now, so keep those rods ready! Tight lines, and I'll catch you on the next report!
