Now, let's talk fish! The bite's been on fire lately, especially for halibut and calico bass. Anglers have been reporting solid catches of these beauties all along the coast. We've also seen some nice yellowtail action offshore, with a few lucky folks landing some 20-pounders.

For you halibut hunters, live bait's been the ticket. Sardines and anchovies are working wonders, but don't sleep on those artificial lures. The Berkley Gulp! Sandworms in camo color have been absolutely crushing it. If you're targeting calicos, plastic swimbaits in anchovy patterns are your best bet. Try the Keitech Easy Shiners or the Yamamoto Zako for some serious action.

Yellowtail chasers, you'll want to stock up on surface iron. The Tady 45 in blue and white has been money, but don't forget to bring some live squid if you can get your hands on it.

As for hot spots, Redondo Beach Pier has been producing some quality halibut, while the kelp beds off Palos Verdes have been holding some chunky calicos. If you're looking to get offshore, make a run to Catalina Island for a shot at those yellowtail.
