కరోనా వైరస్ వ్యాప్తిని అరికట్టడానికి మార్చి నెలలో దేశవ్యాప్తంగా లాక్ డౌన్ ప్రకటించారు. అకస్మాత్తుగా తీసుకున్న ఈ నిర్ణయం వల్ల, దేశంలో అనేక ప్రాంతాల్లోని వలస కార్మికుల జీవితాల్లో తీవ్ర సంక్షోభం నెలకొంది. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా రైళ్ళు, బస్సు సర్వీసులు నిలిపివేయడంతో, వలస కార్మికులు, వారి స్వస్థలాలకి వెళ్ళడానికి కూడా వీలు లేకుండా పోయింది. కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలు వలస కార్మికుల కోసం కొన్ని సహాయక చర్యలు ప్రకటించినప్పటికీ, వాటి అమలులో లోటుపాట్ల వల్ల అవి ఇంకా అందరికీ చేరలేదు.
