In today's episode we’re going to talk with Sophie Mitchell, she is a UX Design Manager with extensive experience in designing and building accessible, digital products for both agencies and client-side. She enjoys working further upstream with senior stakeholders helping to shape business requirements and define the problem. Equally, She loves the individual contributor work, working across the full UX lifecycle from brief, requirements understanding, research and discovery, ideation, design, prototyping, testing, and analysis. Keeping the users at the heart of her design decisions, both user insights and best practice guidelines and principles are used to inform each step of a project.

Sophie currently leads a team of 4 UX Designers at Dext, a SaaS accounting and bookkeeping software that has multiple products to help accountants and bookkeepers be more efficient in their workflows and practices. The UX Design team is part of a larger team of 12 including Research, UI, and Content. Her role at Dext is two-fold; She is accountable for the overall user experience across our suite of products and collaborates with senior stakeholders to support the product direction and strategy. She is also the UX Lead on our core product, leading complex projects from discovery through to going live involving large groups of cross-functional stakeholders, and managing conflict in the team.
