Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for August 8th, 2025.

This morning kicked off with **calm, muggy air and stained water at an inviting 90 degrees**, just a hair above pool level. Sunrise came at 6:39am, and if you hit the launch early you found a good bass bite holding steady right now. Today’s forecast calls for sun most of the day, a high around 93, and light winds—pretty classic Lake Fork summer conditions. Overnight lows slide to 71 before warming up again tomorrow. With these summer dog days, expect most action early and late, then again when a light wind riffles the water or clouds roll in to break up the heat.

**Fish Activity & Catches:**
Bass are hot right now, especially **working frogs, buzz baits, and poppers** along the points and grass lines right at first light. As soon as the sun gets up, look for them to pull off into deeper grass pockets, lily pads, and shaded hydrilla. Bigger fish are being caught on deep structure—think **12 to 25 feet off humps, ridges, roadbeds, and main lake points**. For these deeper fish, Carolina rigs with flukes, big worms, Texas rigs, and large crankbaits are top producers, according to Lake Fork Guide Service and recent podcast updates from "Lake Fork, Texas Fishing Report - Daily."

If you’re after black bass, don’t overlook the mid-lake grass fields as lily pads and milfoil are full and pushing up—target them with a clouser fly for a unique bite, or stick with your favorite frog lure[Lake Fork Guide Service].

Crappie fishermen are getting into the groove too. Action is picking up with more keeper slabs showing up on brush piles, tire reefs, and sunken timber, especially along deeper ledges and even around bridges. Minnows, hand-tied jigs, and small soft plastics are working, especially in 16-26 feet, as reported by Jacky Wiggins Guide Service.

**Bream and Channel Catfish** are thick in the shallows. Big bream are hitting wooly buggers near the bank and channel cats are cruising 2-4 ft where you can get them on flies or cut bait.

**Best Lures & Baits:**
Topwater frogs and walking baits are the ticket at dawn and dusk. When the sun’s up, switch to deep-diving crankbaits in shad or bluegill color, or try a big watermelon or blue-flake worm on a Texas rig. For crappie, stick to live minnows or try an electric chicken or blue ice jig. Catfish hunters—stink bait, punch bait, or a gob of fresh shad will keep your rod bent.

**Hot Spots:**
- Hit **Little Caney Creek’s grasslines at first light** for topwater bass.
- The **points off Mustang Creek** are pumping out quality bass on Carolina rigs and crankbaits.
- For slab crappie, check the **Brush piles near the mouth of Wolf Creek** and the **old 515 roadbeds**—these have been consistent for keepers as reported by local guides.

With all this weekend boat traffic, especially coming off the holiday, be smart and get out early or stay late for the best bite and fewer crowds.
