Lake Fork Fishing Report March 2025: Bass Bonanza, Crappie Crush, and Catfish Comeback

Listen Later

Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for March 12, 2025.

The weather's been warming up nicely, with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the upper 40s. We've got partly cloudy skies today with a light breeze out of the south. Sunrise was at 6:37 AM and sunset will be at 6:28 PM.

Water temps are hovering around 60 degrees, and the lake level is sitting about 4 inches below full pool. Clarity is stained in most areas, with some clearer water up north.

Bass fishing has been on fire lately! The big girls are moving shallow to spawn, with some already on beds in 1-3 feet of water. Lots of 5-8 pounders being caught, with a few double-digit fish mixed in. Best baits have been soft plastics like Senkos and flukes for sight fishing, and chatterbaits and small swimbaits for covering water. Don't forget those squarebill crankbaits on main lake points.

Crappie fishing is heating up too. They're stacked up in timber 14-34 feet deep. Jigs and minnows are both working well. Try fishing bridges if you can't find 'em in the timber.

Catfish action has been steady in deeper water. Cut shad on a Carolina rig is hard to beat.

For you fly fishermen, small baitfish streamers have been producing some nice bass in the shallows. Wooly buggers are a good bet for crappie.

Hot spots this week: The old Highway 17 roadbed has been giving up some giants, and Duck Call Cove is always a good bet this time of year. Don't overlook Big Bass Point near the 514 bridge either.

Remember, no need for live bait out here - artificial lures are the way to go on Fork! Tight lines, everyone!
