Howdy, folks! This is Artificial Lure comin' at ya with your Lake Fork fishing report for this fine Friday morning, May 9th, 2025.
We're lookin' at some prime conditions out on the lake today! Water's sittin' at about 73 degrees with a stained clarity, and the lake level is runnin' about 0.73 feet below pool. That's some mighty fine fishin' conditions if you ask me!
The bass action has been downright excellent this week. These post-spawn largemouth are aggressive and hungry! The early morning topwater bite is absolutely on fire, especially around those shad spawn areas. If you're out before the sun gets too high, them diesel chatterbaits and small spinnerbaits are doin' the trick on points where you see them blue herons workin'. Don't miss throwin' them frog patterns in the shallow vegetation - that's been money in the bank!
Once the sun gets up a bit, switch to them flukes and Yum Dingers around grass edges in 1-3 feet of water. Carolina rigs have been fair in 5-10 feet on secondary points. We're seein' a new wave of spawners pullin' up this week, especially on the lower end of the lake.
Crappie fishin' has settled into that post-spawn pattern we'll see through summer. There's a ton of small black crappie loadin' up on brush piles, laydowns, bridges and docks. The bigger slabs are a bit trickier to find, but worth huntin' for. White crappie are gettin' comfortable on them summer pattern trees, though there's a lot of fry makin' them hard to spot even on forward facing sonar. Look for crappie anywhere from 10-30 feet deep - some might be just 2 feet under the surface while others are huggin' bottom. Both minnows and jigs in any color are producin' extremely well.
Channel cats are cruisin' in 2-4 feet and bitin' on clousers. And if you're after them big ol' bream, they've moved shallow and are hittin' wooly buggers somethin' fierce!
For hot spots, I'd recommend checkin' out them main lake points with hard bottoms for the shad spawn activity. And if you're after them bass, don't overlook them secondary points in 6-18 foot range. Drop shots, Texas rigs, crankbaits, and C-rigs should be your go-to baits in these areas.
Y'all get out there and enjoy some time on the water! This is Artificial Lure sayin' tight lines and good fishin' to ya!
