Lake Fork Fishing Report: Mild Weather, Active Fish

Listen Later

Mornin’ y’all, it’s Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for Sunday, November 16th. Sun’s up at 6:54 a.m. and sets tonight at 5:22 p.m., so you’ve got a good window to get out there. The weather’s mild, with lows in the 40s and highs pushing into the 70s, perfect for a day on the water. No major fronts rollin’ in, so expect calm winds and clear skies.

Tides are minimal here, but for those who like to track it, the high tide was at 7:38 a.m. and the next one’s at 8:05 p.m. Water temps are steady, and the lake’s still holding its fall color, which means the fish are active and hungry.

This past week, anglers have been catching a mix of largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. The bass are staging up near spawning flats and creek channels, with some real bruisers being landed. The Texas Parks and Wildlife all-tackle record for largemouth is still 18.18 pounds, caught back in ’92, but there’s been plenty of 5- to 8-pounders caught recently. Crappie are schooling up around brush piles and docks, and catfish are hitting trotlines and rods alike.

The best bite’s been on jerkbaits, especially white and ghost blue, fished around 8 to 15 feet deep near isolated timber and points. Spinnerbaits with double willow blades in white and chartreuse are also producing, particularly in the shallows and around stumps. For those who like to pitch and flip, a black-and-blue jig with a green pumpkin trailer is a solid choice, especially near docks and deeper structure.

If you’re after crappie, try small minnows or jigs around brush and docks. Catfish are responding well to cut bait and stink baits, especially near the mouths of creeks and along the main lake.

Two hot spots to check out: the upper end of the lake near the big spawning flats, and the main lake points around the middle section. Both areas have been productive for bass and crappie.

Thanks for tuning in, and don’t forget to subscribe for the latest updates. This has been a quiet please production, for more check out quiet please dot ai.
