Lake Fork Fishing Report: Pre-Spawn Bass and Crappie Bonanza

Listen Later

Howdy, folks! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for March 16, 2025.

Sun's coming up at 7:32 AM and setting at 7:31 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to chase those lunkers. Weather's looking mighty fine today - partly cloudy skies with a high of 72°F and a light breeze from the southeast. Water temp's sitting pretty at 57°F, and the lake level's right at full pool.

Now, let's talk fish. This past week has been red hot for pre-spawn bass action. Anglers have been hauling in good numbers of 3-5 pounders, with a few real giants in the 8-10 pound range. Crappie fishing's been picking up too, with some nice slabs coming from brush piles in 12-18 feet of water.

For you bass chasers, chatterbaits and lipless crankbaits in red or chrome have been tearing it up in 2-6 feet of water around grass lines and points. Don't forget your trusty Carolina-rigged lizard or Senko-style stick bait for when the bite slows down. Crappie anglers are having luck with small jigs tipped with minnows or using straight minnows under a slip bobber.

If you're looking for some hot spots, I'd recommend hitting the points and coves around Birch Creek or working the grass beds near the Highway 515 bridge. The old roadbed off Duck Cove has been producing some nice fish too.

Remember, folks, the big girls are moving shallow to feed up before the spawn, so now's the time to land that trophy bass you've been dreaming about. Tight lines and good fishing to ya!
