Lake Fork Fishing Report: Pre-Spawn Bite On Fire, Big Bass Abound

Listen Later

Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for March 15, 2025.

We've had a mild week with temps in the mid-60s, and it's looking like more of the same this weekend. Sunrise is at 7:32 AM and sunset at 7:34 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to chase those lunkers.

The lake level is holding steady at about 4 inches below full pool. Water temps are creeping up, ranging from 58-63 degrees depending on where you're at. Clarity is stained in most areas, with some clearer water down south.

Folks, the pre-spawn bite is on fire! We're seeing a lot of big females moving up shallow to feed before they hunker down on beds. This week alone, we've had reports of several bass over 10 pounds, including a monster 13.2-pounder caught on a chartreuse and white spinnerbait.

For you crappie anglers, the bite has been hot too. Lots of slabs being pulled from brush piles in 12-18 feet of water. Minnows and small jigs in white or chartreuse are doing the trick.

As for lures, it's hard to go wrong with a lipless crankbait right now. Red is always a good color on Fork, but don't be afraid to mix it up with some chrome or white. Chatterbaits and spinnerbaits are producing well too, especially around grass lines and points.

For you soft plastic fans, big worms and creature baits are getting it done. Try a Texas-rigged 10-inch worm in plum or junebug color, or a jig-and-pig combo for those bigger bites.

Hot spots this week include the areas around Birch Creek and the 515 bridge. The timber north of Oak Ridge is holding some good fish too. Just remember to watch out for those stumps - they'll getcha if you're not careful!

That's all for now, folks. Remember, the big girl of your dreams is out there waiting. So get out there, stay safe, and tight lines!
