Lake Fork Fishing Report: Trophy Bass, Crappie, & More on the Bite

Listen Later

Howdy, folks! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Fork fishing report for March 28, 2025. Let me tell ya, it's shaping up to be a mighty fine day on the water.

We've got partly cloudy skies with temps in the low 70s. Sunrise was at 7:18 AM and sunset will be at 7:34 PM. Water levels are sitting pretty at just 0.10 feet below full pool, and water temps are ranging from 54-59 degrees.

Now, let's talk fish. This past week has been smoking hot for largemouth bass. We've seen a bunch of 5-7 pounders caught, with a few lucky anglers even landing some 10+ pound lunkers. The spawn is in full swing, and those big mommas are up shallow.

For you bass hunters, I'd recommend tossing some lipless crankbaits like a Rat-L-Trap or a Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad in red or chrome colors. Work those baits around points and in 3-8 feet of water. If that ain't working, try slowing down with a Texas-rigged worm or a jig around timber.

Crappie fishing's been decent too, especially around the bridges. Use minnows or small jigs around the bridge pilings. The Hwy 515 bridge has been particularly productive lately.

As for hot spots, I'd say give the area around Birch Creek a shot. That north end's been on fire lately. Another good bet is working the points near the dam, especially early in the morning.

For those of you looking to sight fish, grab yourself a Senko or creature bait and work those spawning beds. Just remember to practice catch and release on those big spawners so we can keep Lake Fork producing trophy bass for years to come.

White bass and yellow bass have been biting too. They're stacked up in 6-20 feet of water, with some moving shallow to spawn. Minnows and small jigs are your best bet.

Now, I know some of y'all might be wondering about catfish. They've been biting pretty good too. Use stinkbait or cut shad in 3-10 feet of water, especially around the northern protected arms.

That's all I got for today, folks. Y'all stay safe out there and don't forget to send me pictures of your catches. Tight lines, everyone!
