LAKE LIFE WKND 033 What's cooking? Meet Sara Watson and hear her story about opening a Restaurant in Otter Tail County during a time of uncertanty. Her passion for food and creative cooking has lead her path from Fargo to Colorado and back to the Red River Valley to arrive in Lakes Country opening Blackboard Restaurant together with her life long friend Terri Trickle. The decision was made this spring to purchase the former Pickle Factory and convert it into a new dining destination. As the building was originally used as a school house the name Blackboard was chosen quickly. The use of the lawn with mature trees makes this place one of the best local outdoor dining establishments you have yet to see. The Restaurant will be open year around and is inviting to a casual always changing food experience. LAKE LIFE WKND 031 about one of the newest additions to Lakes Country. We met with Maggie Fresonke to speak about remote work environments, rural living, and to hear her story about why she opened a coworking space in Perham. COVE is located in downtown just off of Main Street and offers different kind of membership plans or one day pass options to get work down in a friendly and modern office place. The new normal we live in today also opened the door for many to work from home or remotely while they are travelling. It makes sense that we need a coworking space in Lakes Country and Maggie ran with the idea. Hear the full story in our latest podcast episode and email us for more details. LAKE LIFE WKND 029 about Love Letters a play by A.R. Gurney. Kellie Pifer and Lee Klocke will perform this 2 person play on stage at the Richwood Winery on July 25th starting at 7:30PM. When the Fargo-Moorhead theater at Island Park lost their building to a collapsed roof earlier this year, both actors decided to organize a fund raiser to help rebuild the structure. Now after the theater world was forced to shut down this spring at every other venue, Kellie and Lee were not sure how to do their fundraiser but soon came up with the idea to produce a play which could be performed in a social distance friendly format. They found a few venues which allowed to host their event outside with enough space for the audience to spread out. We are happy to share this story with you and hear about the play and hope to have you come to Richwood Winery next weekend.
