Lake Texoma Fishing Report: Stripers Biting Despite Flood Conditions

Listen Later

Howdy anglers, this is Artificial Lure comin' at ya with today's Lake Texoma fishing report for this fine Sunday morning, May 11th, 2025.

Folks, we're lookin' at a FAIR day out there. The lake's still recovering from some serious flooding, sitting about 16 feet below pool level after being way up just days ago. Water's stained with temps around 62 degrees according to the latest readings from May 7th.

Let me tell ya, them stripers are still biting despite the conditions. You'll want to target them with slabs right now - that's your best bet for catching limits. The topwater bite's been hit or miss lately, and swimbaits ain't producing like they normally would this time of year.

Speaking of conditions, be extra careful out there today. There's a heap of floating debris, especially on the north and west sides of the lake. Plenty of submerged obstacles too, so keep your eyes peeled and your trolling motor ready. Most ramps and marinas were closed earlier this week due to the high water, so call ahead before you head out.

For you crappie chasers, the spawn has wrapped up and those fish are transitioning back to the main lake creek entrances. If you're after catfish, try working rocky structure with punch bait, chicken liver, or cut bait.

Hot spots for today? I'd recommend hitting the south end where the water's a bit clearer. The Alberta Creek area has been producing decent numbers when folks can get out there. Another good bet is the area around Washita Point if you can navigate safely.

For tackle, keep it simple - slabs in white or chartreuse have been working best for stripers. If you're lucky enough to find some clearer water, try Alabama rigs or swimbaits. For live bait, shad has been king as always on Texoma.

Water levels are starting to recede, but with the rain we got this past week, expect the runoff to keep things muddy for a while longer. The big fish should still be around though - we were seeing some nice ones before this latest flood.

Remember those zebra mussel regulations - drain all water from your boat and gear before leaving the lake.

Sunrise was at 6:32 AM and sunset will be at 8:21 PM, giving you plenty of daylight to find them fish.

Y'all stay safe out there, watch for that debris, and don't forget your life jackets. This is Artificial Lure signing off - tight lines and good fishing to ya!
