Land Administrator Officers will do quarterly spot checks on state land leased by farmers to ensure it is being used for its intended purpose. Emerging farmers - including women are set to benefit from the land release. Agriculture Minister, Thoko Didiza, has announced in Pretoria that the department will ensure that the more than 500 thousand hectares of state land released will be productively farmed or the state will terminate the leases. Didiza says the 30 year lease agreement stipulates that the farmer cannot transfer the lease to someone else or sublet the farm.
