Lucia St. Clair Robson won the Golden Spur Award with her nationally best-selling novel Ride the Wind. In Last Train from Cuernavaca, it's Christmas time in Mexico, 1913. Even as army officers and their wives enjoy the atmosphere at Grace Knight's beautiful old hotel, soldiers scour the countryside outside the city looking for rebels. There, 16-year-old Angela Sanchez's family home is destroyed in a hail of bullets. But once the soldiers leave, Angela returns to look for survivors, arm herself - and join the revolution.

Great book and fascinating part of Mexican history.
I have enjoyed Ms. Robson novels of the Comanche Indians and ...
I have enjoyed Ms. Robson's novels about the Comanche Indians and the capture of Cynthia Ann Parker and her brother in the 1830's until the death of her son, Chief Quanah Parker, in the early 1900's. The pursuit of the Comanche by the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Military as the tribes were driven from their homelands is a reminder of the abuse and neglect imposed on the rights of all American Indian tribes.
The "Last Train from Cuernavaca" did not measure up to her stories noted above.
Excellent read. Twists and turns keeping the reader engaged
Excellent read. Twists and turns keeping the reader engaged. I've read every novel this lady has written. This is not her strongest but it is a super read. Entangling fiction into non fiction is her specialty. Don't stop with this one. Read every one she has written. I enjoy how she draws the reader into the story and makes you feel like you are right there.
Viva Mexico
I really enjoy good historical fiction, and this book meets the criteria. Set in Mexico during its revolution, it weaves a story full of action, intrigue and romance. I especially liked how the author interspersed native language dialogue and Spanish throughout the novel. The two primary female characters are strong-willed, fearless and believable. It's a good story set in the badlands during a bad time.
Last Train from Cuernavaca
Lucia St. Clair Robson hits the mark again! Wonderful storyteller. I've read all her books and enjoyed every one. If you like historical fiction based upon actual people/events, you can't miss with her. Highly recommend it.
