In Nagu, Finland, on a sunny Sunday afternoon looking out from the pier of the Archipelago Line route Turku–Själö–Nagu, day trippers with dogs and ice-creams, amble past others enjoying early suppers in the waterfront restaurants. On the water, all manner of motor launches, sail- and speedboats slide in and out of audible range whilst behind me, storm clouds gather and the south-westerly breeze stiffens.
