This week on Lattes, Luggage and Life, I’m taking a step away from the usual travel tips and holiday stories to share something much more personal.

Following the recent loss of my grandad, Roy, I wanted to dedicate this episode to the man who helped shape so much of my life. From holidays to Disneyland Paris and Butlins, to long walks, lifts to auditions, college interviews and job interviews, Grandad was always there. He was my best friend, my partner in crime and one of my biggest supporters.

In this episode, I reflect on the memories we shared, how his time in the Navy may have inspired my love of ships and cruising, and the difficult journey our family experienced as we watched him live with Alzheimer’s over the past few years.

I’ve also launched Roy’s Remembrance, where £10 from every booking made through Avandra Travel Services will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society in his memory.
