Laughter and Bone Silence is an anthology of Ryan Shayne’s poetry. It’s a beautiful account of Ryan’s emotions, perspective and interests. I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far and that’s exactly what we covered in this conversation. 

 

Ryan is a friend of mine from high school and has been interested in poetry from a young age. Seeing him being published this young is really dope and more importantly- being able to admire and learn from his merit is really what makes this book so special. Ryan is a versatile writer who loves to read and read and read; be it T.S. Elliot or some Dante - he knows a little bit of everything. He is also studying the classics and English Literature at University and is enjoying doing what he likes. 

 

The reason why this book is so special is because I love poetry as well and being able to ask Ryan questions about why he chose certain words or ideas was super cool. I just love the care and detail that went into this compilation. It’s a work of a true modernist and in the midst of the madness in his book Ryan will successfully convince you that “The best of us are headless chickens.” 

 

I know I’m convinced.
