Today's guest is the incredible multi- talented Lauren Flax, recently crowned " Underground Hero" by DJ Mag she truly is a hero not only musically but also in her political activism and with work she does with the organistaion Last Night A DJ Saved My Life which gives access to Narcan ( aka Nalaxone) to help reduce accidental overdoses due to Fentanyl. Aside from all this Lauren has been on a true heroes journey personally. she's been on a healing path for 10 year and sober for 6 of them. Lauren attributes her recent success and long overdue recognition to the intense personal work she's been doing in this time and the perspective shift that has enabled her to step into her true authenicity.
This conversation moved me so deeply and comes with a Trigger Warning as she does share about her experience of childhood sexual abuse :
Lauren speaks about:
-Finding belonging and acceptance as a queer person in the rave scenes of Detroit and New York.
-Harm reduction, drugs awareness and her work with Last Night A DJ Saved My Life
-Her creative process
-Channelling pain through music
-The healing power of music
-Taking Ayuhasca and how it changed her
-Forgiveness
-Childhood Sexual abuse
-Shadow Work- facing the darkness inside
-Inner Child Work
-Meditation
-The non linear nature of healing
-Why she chooses to spaek out about her experiences and how that feels.
