We revisit the attack on Mary Vincent, a 15-year-old hitchhiker whose courage and resilience turned her into a symbol of survival. Left for dead after enduring unimaginable violence, Mary’s escape and testimony brought Singleton to justice — but only temporarily.Years later, Singleton’s release under California’s lenient sentencing laws led to public outrage and legal reform efforts. Yet, the story didn’t end there. In 1997, he struck again — this time ending another innocent life.
