Agility Is the Goal

 

Agility.  It's not a word that leaders normally use to describe themselves but it is a skill that every leader must develop and use if they are to keep pace today. Today's workplace is experiencing a pace of change never before encountered.

With that rapid pace leaders must develop the agility to manage numerous complex moving parts while attempting to stay ahead of the next change. It's an ability only a few leaders develop that raises them to the 'catalyst' form of leadership.

In his book Leadership Agility: Five Levels of Mastery for Anticipating and Initiating Change, Bill Joiner details the Expert, Achiever and Catalyst, explaining attributes of each and the development necessary to move through these developed skills.
