As a leader sometimes necessary to give performance reviews that are opportunities for ploys to grow. However those employees might take it as a negative feedback. You might have to fire someone. Be specific on their performance. You might have to lay off at people in your team. Again be specific on what are the metrics to laying people off. Leaders will recognize that it's crucial to develop and train others because that is a leader's job description.
