As our nation begins “a new day” or “the long night” (our new

president has indicated both), I want to look at a psalm David wrote at the beginning of his reign — his “Inaugural Address” as it were.

Though last week’s address stressed unity through tolerance,

David begins by singing of “mercy and judgment.” National security is preceded by personal purity. I pray God will use David’s conviction to guide our hearts through the days ahead.
