South Africans must also realise that this may not necessarily be a failure due to incompetence on the side of the ANC, but rather a deliberate strategy to keep the population poor and dependent so that it can buy votes cheaply with social welfare programmes.
Keeping the poor on the periphery of the economy keeps them perpetually reliant on government for the meagre R350 used as a food bowl, drawing the hungry to the ballot.
