It was winter her junior year of college and Molly was writing for “The Plainsman” at Auburn University. She had completed an interview on a hand-held recorder and was driving back to campus to write her article. Eager to start her latest assignment, Molly briefly looked down to hit the record button on her device, recording the entire accident on tape.
“A second later,” her entire life changed.

More about Molly Welch:
Thirteen years ago, I was in a head-on collision with a pick-up truck that caused a traumatic brain injury. I was in a coma for three weeks and had a 50-50 chance of living. Later, I was only minimally conscious for months. Next I had to re-learn everything from walking to talking. The doctors thought I’d be in an immobile state the rest of my life. In fact, one doctor told my parents that I may not wake up, but if I did, “the sky would be the limit.”
Not emerging from the coma at the hospital, Molly was sent home where she eventually came out of the coma.
I had to undergo years of extensive physical, occupational and speech therapy at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Because of the impact on my health and time, it took me an extra three years to graduate from Auburn. These life changing events were the result of distracted driving.
Hard work and hope gave me a second chance at life as well as the realization that my story could be the catalyst for change. To this day, I’ve made it my mission to create awareness about distracted driving. I absolutely don’t want what happened to me to happen to anyone else.
In 2017, I produced a public service announcement together with key individuals to help spread my message to drivers everywhere. It aired in several states. From there, I was inspired to start my own non-profit, motivational speaking company, A Second Later. Through my organization, I’ve been able to tell my story to schools, businesses, professional organizations, civic groups, and even legislators in the State of Georgia.

A few weeks ago I got the absolute pleasure of meeting Kathy while we were getting our certifications for Myers Briggs. We spent four days together learning and I was captivated by her story and how articulate she was about curating it. Before our last day came to a close I knew I HAD to ask her to come on the podcast so our listeners could get the opportunity to hear for themselves what an incredible storyteller she is and learn from her too! Enjoy!

This week's episode is an incredibly honest conversation about finances! Nieleh Wilcots is a financial coach with her company Penny Perspective. She has a background in bookkeeping and has always enjoyed keeping track of and reconciling the flow of money. Nieleh has had her own financial struggles. In the past, she tried hard to figure out how to substantially grow in the area of her finances, even on a moderate income. She figured out that it starts with intentionally making the most of what you have right now. After 2 years & 9 months, she paid off $101,500 of debt. Together, her natural bookkeeping abilities and her experience in getting her own financial life in order have led her to help others manage their money in a way that leads to financial growth.
