Leadership styles and what we can learn from others with Chris Everard

Listen Later

In today's episode I interview Chris Everard who I have known for a long time and worked with collaboratively. We talk about how different people's leadership styles can be and how your leadership style can develop by watching and learning from others. Chris also brings in his knowledge of rugby coaching and how it transfers over to leadership more generally.

About Chris Everard:

Retail pioneer, business leader, successful entrepreneur and rugby coach: Chris’s story explains why so many fast-growing businesses demand his experience, vision and competitive energy. Having built an extensive knowledge within the newly emerging retail design market, Chris set up his own point of purchase company - Sector Design in the early 90s. Quickly becoming a market leader, Sector attracted some of the world’s largest retail brands, winning major international awards for creativity, quality and service, placing Chris at the very forefront of the industry.

Chris also has a passion for rugby union. His winning instincts and a gift for building teams saw him lead tours to Europe, South Africa and Australia and become a Leicester Tigers Vice President and Academy Coach after selling Sector Design in 1995.

With this business and coaching knowledge under his belt, Chris embarked on business coaching journey and has since led countless SME businesses to success within the role of coach or non-exec director. Chris is also an experienced Vistage Chair.

About Adam Harris:

I work with CEO’s, managing directors, their boards and leadership teams as well as aspiring leaders who want to climb the corporate ladder. I help them achieve greater results for their teams, their businesses and themselves. How? By taking them from where they are to where they want to get to. I do that not by answering their questions, but by questioning their questions. By being Frank and Fearless. I ask tough questions and encourage my clients to say what they really think. I create space to enable them to stop, pause and reflect. Out of that space comes clarity and real opportunities for growth. I help my clients do incredible things. I help them understand that good and bad things happen. Life goes on regardless. What matters is your perspective and how you react to the shit that happens to you. What you get out of life depends on how you navigate your way through it.
