In this inspiring episode, we welcome Marcus Sydow, a recently retired United States Air Force veteran whose 24 years of service—17 of them at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base—reflect a life built on discipline, integrity, and heart.
Throughout his military career, Marcus created and led numerous volunteer and civic initiatives, including Airman’s Attic, Desert Thunder Squadron, and many more—always focused on strengthening the community around him. Leadership for Marcus has never been about rank—it’s been about responsibility.
Since retiring, his service hasn’t slowed. He now serves on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona and Desert Thunder Squadron, while pursuing his MBA at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, where he was voted class president. Alongside his wife Emi, whom he met in Japan, Marcus continues to serve Tucson as a licensed real estate agent—building not just homes, but relationships and community.
Marcus reminds us that leadership is a lifelong commitment—not to power, but to people.
