Today’s prayer is based on John 13:1-20

Leadership with a servant’s attitude

 

Jesus and his disciples were eating dinner.

Jesus excuses himself from the table.

He then takes off his outer clothes and wraps a towel around his waist.

 

This is something only the lowest slave would do.

Jesus then began washing his followers feet.

 

Jesus had a servant's attitude.

We are to serve one another.

And he made that clear with this powerful example of servanthood.

The Lord of all creation washing the feet of his followers.

 

When Jesus got to Simon Peter, Simon said to him,

“Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

 

“You do not realize what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

 

“No,” said Peter. “You shall never wash my feet.”

 

“Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
