One of the greatest opportunities is to become a leader at home.  I have always said that I never wanted to become famous, other than in my home.  So, today we are talking about leading at home.  Maybe you are a dad and maybe you will be one later in life, and to our mom’s who listen in as well, take note of the insights and see how you can apply them. 

I want to say that I do not think I have it all figured out.  I have had dozens and dozens of men pour into me, read countless books and attended conferences.  What I am going to share is a highlight reel of what I think has worked and what may work for you. 

First we must set the outcome/goals. Do you want to have a well behaved kid who leaves and never wants to see you again.  One that resents your very existence?  I hear that all the time from men and women.  They hated their childhood and had very little relationship with their father later in life.  I want and have wanted the opposite.  I want kids to want to be home when they don’t have to, and who want to be with each other throughout life.  This requires that the relationship takes front seat and full window view.  One of the principles of the dad forge is that “rules without relationship = rebellion”.  So, lets work on the relationship as we navigate this idea of leading in our home.
