Meet Tyler Fisher, Ed.D.

Tyler Fisher has spent his career helping people get more out of what they already have.

He grew up on a ranch, played Division I football at the University of Nebraska, and began his career as a strength and conditioning coach at Nebraska, Drake University, and TCU. His goal was straightforward: help athletes get every ounce of potential out of their physical abilities. But coaching taught him that developing people is about much more than physical ability. The goal was never just four years. It was forty.

While coaching at TCU, Tyler began graduate study in Educational Leadership and discovered that many of the lessons he had learned through ranching, athletics, coaching, and leading teams were the same principles at the heart of leadership development. After completing his master's degree, he entered TCU's doctoral program and, six months later, moved from athletics into the university's Leadership Center. He later earned his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership with his dissertation, How Leaders Make and Communicate Significant Decisions.

Tyler's work eventually expanded beyond higher education into business, including enterprise learning and development at American Airlines. Across each environment, he continued to see the same thing: people and organizations can possess tremendous talent without ever making full use of it.

In 2024, Tyler founded New Found Power to help change that. Today, he works with individuals, leaders, teams, and organizations to identify what is getting in the way, develop what is needed, and put more of what they already have to work.

Donning Your Diligence Glasses: Intercepting Hidden Household Narratives

Modern short-form algorithms are engineered to strip the 15–25 demographic of their work ethic, moral identity, and traditional family roots. Making young people comfortable with not working, expecting everything to be delivered to them is an acceleration to destruction IMHO. From door dash, to major grocery chain delivery and even 7-11 slushies handed to them at the front door. Laziness is antithetical to purpose. Lack of purpose drives the youth into a non-productive stance in life and society. Entertainment carries a message. Gaming carries a message. Education carries a message. These messages fit a series of narratives. These narratives have an elaborate collaboration with driven intent. If you are unclear on that intent, you will be victim to it. 

Mentor Lens: Train parents how to look past surface entertainment to decode the root source, tactical end game, and actual intent of the cultural scripts entering their homes.

In a hyper-fast digital market, nervous speakers rush to fill every moment with filler words, destroying their executive presence. Leaders and communicators must demonstrate poise, control and confidence in order to maintain trust. Managing Up: How Next-Gen Leaders Earn Boardroom Trust

Young leaders often struggle to communicate up the chain of command, mistaking transparency for a license to vent or overshare. There is a fine line between proper professionalism or protocol and lazy status quo. There is a needed balance between permission to speak freely and realizing that idea NEW TO YOU may not be a new idea at all. Respect goes a long way and is best earned not demanded - on both sides. 

The thing to remember on your way up the ladder is this: whoever got there first holds significant influence over your outcome. Keep that in mind before sawing the legs off the ladder you’re climbing. 

Mentor Lens: Provide an execution blueprint for young executives on how to present solutions instead of problems, speak in the terms of stakeholder interests, and handle peer conflict directly.
