On December 23, Pastor Jim preaches on Luke 1:39-45.
I’ve always liked this story, the account of Mary’s visit to her older relative Elizabeth. Elizabeth, like Sarah and Hannah before her, had known the grief of infertility, and suddenly she’s pregnant with none other than John the Baptist. I picture her at H-E-B. While her contemporaries are stocking up on Metamucil, Elizabeth can be found browsing through the Gerber’s section.
Don’t tell me folks didn’t snicker behind her back and occasionally to her face; meanwhile, her husband, Zechariah, is strutting around the putting green like a peacock. Ridiculous! People on A.A.R.P. expecting a B.A.B.Y. Don’t tell me God doesn’t have a sense of humor.
I hope to see you on Sunday. We have a lot to celebrate; after all, we’re expecting a baby!
