Introduction
DB: You’re listening to Languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hi there everyone and welcome to the Learn English Through Football podcast; the podcast for all those who love the beautiful game of football and who are aiming to improve their English language skills. My name is Damian and I’m based here in a cold but dry London after a week of torrential rain! Now regular listeners to the show will know that the other member of the languagecaster team is Damon who is based in Tokyo but unfortunately he cannot be with us today so it’s just me. I think he’ll be a happy football fan though as his side Liverpool won again yesterday in the Premier League, with a late penalty, while their nearest rivals Manchester City lost at home, while they also had a win in the Champions League on Wednesday.
A soft penalty?

* A stonewall penalty?
* A nailed on penalty?
* A false penalty?

And as usual, we’ll have the answer at the end of the show.
DF: Don’t forget that you can access our football-language glossary by coming along to our site here at languagecaster.com – we have hundreds of phrases, expressions, idioms and cliches all connected to football. You can also gain access to extra posts, worksheets and transcripts of our podcasts by supporting us through Patreon – come along to patron.com/languagecaster – thank you.
