Becoming a Lifelong Learner

The first promotion felt wonderful.

For exactly two weeks.

On Friday afternoon, my manager announced the news during our team meeting.

"Congratulations, Maya. Beginning next month, you'll be leading the Advanced Systems Integration team."

The room erupted in applause.

People shook my hand.

My parents cried when I called them.

Friends took me out to dinner.

For a brief moment, I felt as if I had finally arrived.

Then Monday came.

And I realized something terrifying.
