Matthew 19:1-30; 1 Corithians 7:8-9, 15; Matthew 18:3

In Matthew chapter nineteen, Jesus was tested by the Pharisees regarding the topic of divorce. Jesus, in his wisdom and understanding of the law, referred to what Moses wrote in the law, as the Pharisees were well aware of these laws. Jesus explained that the grounds for divorce, according to the law, is on the basis of immorality. However, it is important to note that God dislikes divorce, as stated in Malachi 2:16. Another reason for divorce is if the unbelieving spouse abandons the believer, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 7:15.
Jesus also emphasized his love for children and commanded his followers to become like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3).
There is an account of a rich ruler approaching Jesus to inquire about obtaining eternal life. Jesus advised him to follow the commandments. However, when it came to making a sacrificial act such as selling his possessions, the rich ruler became distressed because he had many possessions. This account illustrates that only God can fill the void in each person and that there are steps one must take to receive eternal life. The first of these steps is to recognize Jesus as the only good one, to accept him as Lord and Savior, and to allow him to guide you in managing your earthly possessions. Leave everything for follow Jesus for he rewards greatly his followers and one of the best compensation is eternal life, reigning with Him.
