Last week, the Lebanese city of Beirut was hit by a devastating explosion of ammonium nitrate that left over 200 dead and 300,000 homeless. This exasperated the woes in a nation that was already in political and economic turmoil. Now citizens have taken to the streets after the government has stepped down. They want change.  Several countries away, Belarus is also experiencing political turmoil after the sham election that gave Aleksandr G. Lukashenko his sixth term as president. Lukashenko is known as one of Europe’s last dictators, only Russia and China accept his victory, and protests by angry citizens on the streets have turned violent and deadly. In this episode, Drew and Alex look into the growing global movement that pushes for accountability by leading officials. They look into these two specific cases and link it into the global context with bigger implications.
