Episode 69: The Poison Within — Overcoming Resentment, Insecurity & Broken Expectations
Are your insecurities and resentments quietly destroying your relationships, your happiness, and the kingdom you're trying to build?
In Episode 69 of Legacy – Build Your Kingdom, host Rudy Knapp explores how resentment, jealousy, unrealistic expectations, and personal insecurities can damage our mental health, affect our physical well-being, and hurt the people we love most.
Following Episode 68's emotional tribute to his late mother, Theresa "Terry" Knapp, Rudy reflects on the powerful lessons she taught him about strength, communication, perseverance, and serving others—even through unimaginable loss.
Drawing from personal experiences, Christian teachings, and psychological research, Rudy challenges listeners to look inward, confront their insecurities, release resentment, and take accountability for their own growth.
In this episode, you'll discover:
Why resentment can become emotional poison and how to begin releasing it.
How insecurity affects your body, mental health, and relationships.
Why expecting others to match your effort can lead to disappointment.
How A CIRCLE—Accountability, Communication, Initiation, Respect, Commitment, Love, and Endless Effort—creates a foundation for healthier relationships.
Why fear and insecurity can rob us of memories and opportunities we'll never get back.
How the five pillars of life help us overcome feeling LOST.
What Jesus washing His disciples' feet teaches us about humility, forgiveness, and serving others.
Rudy also shares two practical micro-actions and one Legacy Challenge to help listeners confront insecurity, release resentment, and serve others without expecting anything in return.
Your past doesn't have to define your future. Your insecurities don't have to control your relationships. And somebody else's inability to support you doesn't have to stop you from becoming the person God created you to be.

Legacy - Build Your Kingdom Episode # 68
The Gift of Connection - Dedication to Terry Knapp
What if an ordinary conversation carried the message you needed before one of the hardest moments of your life?
In Episode 68 of Legacy – Build Your Kingdom, I honor my mom, Theresa “Terry” Knapp, following her heartbreaking battle with dementia. Through memories of her contagious laugh, love for her grandchildren, competitive bingo nights, and ability to talk to absolutely anyone, I reflect on the gift she gave me: the power of connection.
I share an unexpected conversation with a stranger just hours before learning my mom was dying—and why I believe God placed him along my path. I also explore how losing my mom’s words inspired me to preserve my own through my books and this podcast for my children, Ben and Sophie.
This episode is about grief, faith, family, and finding purpose while honoring the people we love. It closes with one simple micro-action: connect with one person in the next 24 hours, ask a meaningful question, and truly listen.
You don’t have to change the entire world to make a difference. Sometimes you just have to make a difference in the world of one person.
Build Your Kingdom. Live Your Legacy.
EPISODE #67 - Eliminating "I Can't"
26.2 miles. Two injured calves. One question that changes everything: who are you when your body begs you to quit? Rudy Knapp’s Chicago Marathon story is a brutal, honest, and surprisingly practical lesson in how to push past “I can’t” — and what happens when discipline, purpose, and family carry you farther than motivation ever could. What starts as a race becomes a test of identity. Rudy traces the path from hating running and never even racing a 5K to committing to 75 Hard, building the habit of daily running, and eventually signing up for the Chicago Marathon. But the real turning point comes when pain hits around mile 11, both calves seize up, and the finish line suddenly feels impossible. You’ll hear how a personal promise turns into a mission for the Alzheimer’s Association, why running for his mother changes the meaning of every mile, and how calls and texts from his son and daughter keep him moving when quitting sounds reasonable. Rudy also shares the unforgettable energy of the Chicago streets, the stranger-fueled chaos of marathon aid stations, and the mindset shift that happens when pace stops mattering and perseverance takes over.We break down three simple micro actions designed to help you eliminate “I can’t” from your life today:
Rudy also connects the marathon to the bigger picture in his book, Legacy: Build Your Kingdom, showing why character is built long before the finish line, one decision at a time. If you’re trying to rebuild your health, start a business, have a hard conversation, or simply find the courage to begin again, this episode gives you a clear, motivating framework to move forward. Essential listening if you need a reminder that fear is not the same as impossibility, and the person you become in the struggle may matter more than the finish itself.

Episode #66 - Expanding Your Perimeter — Growth Beyond the Comfortable Line
Growth does not happen in the comfortable center.
It happens at the edge—where your heart is racing and your excuses start talking.
Save this for the next time fear tries to keep you small.
I used to think “comfort zone” meant peace.
It doesn’t. It often means staying the same.
Real growth looks like:
Doing the hard thing even when you’re not ready
Choosing purpose over comfort
Becoming the kind of person who can handle more
You don’t need to chase random stunts to prove you’re brave. You need aligned risks that stretch your character and your discipline.
That’s where confidence is built.
That’s where your perimeter expands.
What’s one thing you’ve been avoiding that you know would change you?

These moments show how kindness can be a source of strength. In this episode, you’ll also hear:
Rudy connects faith, family, grief, and legacy, sharing how his own life and relationships have shaped his belief that everyone has a role to play—no matter the size of their platform. If you need a reset, a faith-driven challenge, or a reminder that one compliment can ripple farther than you think, this episode is for you. Rudy’s call to action is simple: speak life, stand firm, and do your part.
In this episode, Rudy Knapp interviews Dr. Corinne McCabe to discuss the challenges facing the education system, including funding, class sizes, discipline, and teacher burnout. They explore practical solutions and the importance of building relationships and accountability in schools.
If you’re teaching 30 kids with 15 kids’ worth of support, the problem is bigger than the classroom.
Dr. Corinne McCabe said what too many people avoid saying:
And the hardest part? We keep asking educators to do more with less, then act surprised when burnout hits.If we want better outcomes for kids, we have to support the people standing in front of them.Teacher first. Always.

Real Life Legacy Conversation with Ben Knapp Episode #63
My son asked me the question I think every parent hopes for: what really matters most? If you’re a parent, son, daughter, or just building your own life, save this and share it with someone who needs the reminder. We talked about faith, family, friendships, and the kind of legacy that doesn’t get built overnight.
Ben reminded me that the best lessons aren’t always taught—sometimes they’re lived out loud. What’s one value you want passed down in your family? Listen to the full conversation 👆#LegacyBuildYourKingdom #LegacyCoaching #FamilyLegacy #FaithAndFamily #FatherSonTalk
The Generational Wisdom Vault Episode #62
What does a lasting legacy require beyond financial success? This episode explores how families can pass down character, purpose, discipline, stewardship, and practical wisdom—not just money. It covers documenting life lessons, building stronger relationships, treating health as a responsibility, and creating a legacy through everyday actions while you are still present.
Your kids don’t need your money as much as they need your voice.
Start building their wisdom vault today - before a crisis forces the conversation.
Save this for later, or send it to a parent who needs this reminder.
I’m talking about a simple system:
Record a 10-minute voice memo about your hardest season and how you got through it
Write birthday letters your kids can open years from now
Create a family codex with your values, faith, and lessons
Money can disappear by the third generation.
Character lasts if you pass it down on purpose.
The Generational Wisdom Vault explores how to build a legacy rooted in purpose, discipline, relationships, stewardship, and wisdom that lasts.
Look for the release of the full episode this Saturday.
What would you want your future kids to know most?

Celebrating 60 Episodes: The Battle Within
In this episode, I reflect on growth, purpose, and accountability.
Welcome to this milestone issue of Legacy Build Your Kingdom, where we celebrate the journey of reaching 60 episodes together. Join me as we reflect on the growth that comes from showing up, even when it’s tough.
The Journey So Far
Reaching episode 60 is not just a number; it symbolizes consistency and commitment. It’s about showing up when it’s easy and when it’s hard. I want to express my gratitude to every one of you who has tuned in and supported this mission. Your dedication inspires me to keep pushing forward.
Lessons from Episode 59
In our last episode, I had the honor of speaking with Dan Blakemore. His insights on stepping into your higher purpose and helping others are a powerful reminder of how impactful our actions can be. Dan’s work with the Hard Truth Collective exemplifies what it means to build a community and serve a greater purpose.
The Invisible War
Today, I dive into a crucial topic: the internal battles we all face. This civil war within ourselves shapes our lives more than we realize. It’s the struggle between doing what’s right and succumbing to our weaknesses.
"The hardest kingdom you will ever have to govern is the six inches between your ears." — Rudy Knapp
I know first hand the weight of regret that follows poor choices. Every one of us has faced temptations in various areas of our lives—mindset, physical health, career, relationships, and purpose. These battles are not just individual struggles; they affect our entire ecosystem.
The Cost of Complacency
When we give in to bad habits, the repercussions extend far beyond ourselves. Poor physical health can lead to chronic issues down the line. Emotional neglect can fracture relationships. Each small compromise chips away at our potential and leaves us with a kingdom built on regret.
Winning the War
To navigate these challenges, I’ve identified three actionable strategies:
When you feel hesitation, count down from five and take action immediately. Don’t let your mind negotiate for comfort.
Rate yourself on the five pillars of life: mindset, physical health, finances, relationships, and purpose. Acknowledge areas for improvement without self-judgment, and identify one corrective action for the next day.
Share your goals with a trusted person. When someone else knows your standards, the cost of laziness increases, pushing you to stay accountable.
Moving Forward
As we celebrate 60 episodes, I’m reminded of the marathon it takes to build something meaningful. Each episode is a step forward, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
I invite you to join me at my live book signing on September 19th at Plot Twist Books in Lockport. Let’s connect and continue building our kingdoms together. Remember, your journey matters, and you are not alone in this fight.
Keep building, and never forget who you’re building it for.
