In 1992 The Legend of Zelda was still a relatively young franchise with just two games under its belt. We had previously traversed the fallen kingdom of Hyrule from a birds-eye-view and then returned to a well sold but poorly received side scroller.
However, as the old idiom would have it, it turned out the third time really was the charm.
