Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with prolific legendary jazz drummer Louis Hayes – This Detroit native is still going very strong in the jazz world .. In 2015, he released a beautiful new album called Return of the Jazz Communicators – So, in those early Detroit days things were hopping and he was gigging with Yusef Lateef, Kenny Burrell and Doug Atkins – that led him to New York City and gigs early on with Horace Silver and Cannonball Adderly - and that only opened the gates to a mass of gigs with the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Kenny Barron, Woody Shaw and Dexter Gordon .. He is a 79 years old and sounds hungrier than ever to keep the grand jazz wagon rolling forth ..
